How to Become a Surrogate with The Center for Surrogacy & Egg Donation Inc.

So you think you may want to become a surrogate mother/gestational carrier but don’t know where to start?  The good news is that the Center for Surrogacy & Egg Donation (CSED) is here to help.  We have many intended parents waiting to be matched with their surrogate. They are overjoyed that there are amazing, selfless women just like you willing to help them fulfil their dream of having a baby!
Our surrogacy screening process is designed to make it as easy as possible for potential surrogates to complete, while at the same time making sure you get all of the support necessary so that you are comfortable and informed every step of the way.

Step 1: Do you meet the basic requirements?
The first step of the process is to familiarize yourself with the basic requirements for surrogate mothers.  You can find more detailed information on the qualifications to be a surrogate mother on our website HERE, but the general qualifications are:

  • Be between the ages of 21 and 39
  • Be in good physical health
  • Have had at least one prior pregnancy
  • Have had no major pregnancy complications
  • Be a non-smoker
  • Have a BMI (body mass index) less than 35
  • Be financially stable
  • Be from a surrogate friendly state (unfortunately, we currently cannot work with surrogates from Louisiana, Nebraska, Indiana or Arizona)
  • Be reliable and committed to the surrogacy process

If you have any questions about the qualifications, please feel free to contact us at any time so that we can answer your questions and help you through the process.   We will work hard to get you approved as a surrogate mother at one of the many IVF Clinics we work with.

Step 2: Create your Surrogate Profile
If you believe you meet the basic requirements, the next step is to create an account on the CSED website by following link “Apply to be a Surrogate”.  Simply enter your contact information and . Then,   complete your Surrogate Profile.  On average, it takes about 30 minutes to complete your Surrogate Profile.  You are now well on your way to becoming a surrogate with CSED!

Step 3: Surrogate Profile Review & Medical Records Review
Our surrogacy team will review your profile and let you know by the next business day if your profile has been accepted.  If so, we will ask you to complete a medical records authorization form so that we can obtain copies of your pregnancy-related medical records.,  . This will all be done by the CSED staff which makes the process easier for you.  Our carrier recruiting team will be in contact with you each step of the way to guide you through the process.  While it can take some time to get all of your records sent to us, most surrogates are approved in 2 – 3 weeks!

Step 4: Consultation with Matching Coordinator
Once all of your records are reviewed and approved, we will schedule a consultation with one of our Gestational Carrier Coordinators, both of whom have been working with surrogates for almost 15 years.  They each have helped match hundreds of surrogates during that time. You will have one designated coordinator who will help you through the surrogacy process so that you are not passed from person to person.  Your Gestational Carrier Coordinators will spend a significant amount of time walking you through the entire surrogacy process and answer any questions that you may have.  They will also listen to you to understand your matching criteria. It is just as important that you feel comfortable with the intended parents you match with as the intended parents feel comfortable working with you.

You will then become an officially approved gestational carrier at CSED and it is on to matching you with wonderful intended parents!  Most surrogates are matched with intended parents within a matter of weeks!  Ready to get started?
